ADOPT A TIGER - Meow (Adult Male)
As a juvenile tiger, Meow was chained up and surrounded by cars and fumes at a polluted and noisy petrol station in Bangkok. As a result he suffered terrible malnutrition, pneumonia and septic injuries and was considered 'hurt beyond repair' by the local vet. Care for the Wild's conservation partner in the field, Edwin Wiek, was determined not to allow Meow to die, so fought to bring Meow to his new rescue centre in central Thailand. Here, Meow underwent intensive rehabilitation with Edwin by his side every step of the way; together they took daily dips in a nearby lake, where Meow strengthened his legs, relaxed and had fun for perhaps the first time ever!

His recovery surprised all, and today, despite permanent bone deformities, Meow can now walk and even run. Of course the sanctuary will be Meow’s home for the rest of his life. But after everything that he has been through, we would like to build him a new large natural habitat enclosure and your adoption will help us do just that.

It is a fact that poaching of tigers and illegal trade in tiger bones and parts is on the increase. CWI are dedicated to halting this vile practice. If poaching continues at its present rate of one tiger per day, tigers in the wild will soon disappear forever. Only approximately 5,000 tigers remain in the wild, including an estimated 1,000 to 1,800 Indo-Chinese tigers.

CWI cares for two other Indo-Chinese tigers that have fallen victim to illegal wildlife trade. Orphaned at very young ages, these tigers were not able to learn essential survival skills from their mothers and so would not survive if they were put back into the wild.

Your adoption will help us provide high-quality long-term care to these tigers and also support our vital work to protect tigers in the wild, before it really is too late.
