Seals and Sea Lions are among the best loved of all wild animals. Playful and curious by nature, these supremely adapted marine mammals spend most of their time at sea, out of sight of humans. Despite their charm, all species have suffered exploitation, in some cases to near extinction, as a result of man's greed for fur and flesh. Today, most species are protected by law and many populations are now recovering.
Until recently little was know about these enigmatic creatures, but scientists have developed techniques which enable them to follow seals into their own world, giving us a magical insight into the mysteries of their lives beneath the ocean waves.
