Since 1993 the International Otter Survival Fund has rehabilitated injured and orphaned otters at its centre on the Isle of Skye, as well as providing advice and support for orphaned otters in Portugal, Canada, Nigeria, Ireland, Guyana, Bangladesh, USA, Democratic Republic of Congo, Chile and Ecuador.

Today, IOSF continues the important work that the charity was set up to do, not only conserving our own species of otter (the Eurasian Otter, Lutra lutra) but all of the world’s 13 species, each of which is under threat, through international project funding.

Because the otter lives, feeds and plays on land and in the water and is at the peak of the food chain it is an ambassador species to a first class environment. IOSF was set up to protect and help otters worldwide through a combination of compassion and science. We support projects to protect otters, which will also ensure that we have a healthy environment for all species, including our own.
